Who Do You Believe?

True Crime Television

  • Thomai has directed major brand commercials, music videos, and over 40 scripted recreation portions of True Crime episodes for ABC, MAX, Discovery, and CNBC.

Their directing style is informed by diverse industry experience on set and in post.

As a young storyteller in the punk scene, they channeled their ambition for change into community organizing and theater, exhibiting at modern art museums like the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and the Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans.

Seeking to amplify the voices of lesser-known perspectives, Thomai relocated to Los Angeles with her son and formed a support network with other single parents while working several unique side jobs (including trapeze) working in nearly every department and branch of the film industry and directing micro-funded passion projects.

Observing a lack of representation on set, Thomai established a production company utilizing matriarchal guidance to help shift the paradigm, providing inclusive, safe opportunities for underrepresented cast and crew. They've produced four indie feature films, and Warner Bros Music, Sony, Samsung, LG, and Lionsgate are among their many satisfied clients.

A published essayist, Thomai has written two one-hour pilots and a feature script with themes of underdogs creatively transmuting trauma as they form community, survive, and, hopefully, thrive.

Thomai participates in Mutual-Aid by mentoring in the film industry, guiding meditation, and teaching self-defense to survivors of domestic violence.

Thomai is pronounced Tom-Ay. Nicknames: Tommy and Tomato Hot Sauce.

    Preferred pronouns: They/She.
